HPNET took part in Oxfam Southeast Asia and GreenID's regional exchange to promote decentralized renewable energy (DRE) solutions, May 20 - 22 in An Giang, Vietnam. Civil society organizations from the Mekong region attended and were inspired by Vietnam's progress in scaling biomass and PV solutions, which is being scaled by GreenID's committed efforts. HPNET thanks Green Empowerment, Tonibung, CREATE Borneo, and WISIONS for engaging 11 other HPNET member organizations to take part in their April 2019 open source ELC training. The training was funded by the WISIONS SEPS.
The designer of the Bluebird ELC with SIBAT -- imparted a curriculum mixed with theory, hands-on, and peer-to-peer learning, resulting in each participant learning to build the Bluebird and test it. We express special thanks to the designer of the Bluebird for making it accessible to any community-based micro hydro practitioner, and continuing to expand its features! The work supports local practitioners of micro hydropower to be able to build their own ELCs, toward reducing project costs and increasing consistent operation in their upcoming micro hydro projects.
