What is HPNet?

Catalyze practitioners of small-scale (<1MW) hydropower for the advancement and advocacy of resilient hydropower, towards equitable and sustainable development of rural communities in the global south.

MEMBERSHIP

HPNET members are a diverse set of international, national, and local actors committed to collectively promoting and advancing pico (<5kW), micro (<100kW), and mini (<1000kW) hydro.

SECRETARIAT

HPNET is managed and facilitated by the HPNET Secretariat, which includes the Network Facilitator & Manager, Multi-Media Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Thematic Coordinators, and Thematic Specialists.

​BOARD​

The HPNET Secretariat advances the network's mission and approach with strategic and networking guidance from the HPNET's Board of Advisors, who are senior practitioners having multi-thematic and multi-country expertise; and the Board of Representatives, practitioners who serve as country nodes.

Long experienced in fostering technology transfer for small-scale hydropower to practitioners in the global South, the Skat Foundation has supported HPNET's network development and knowledge exchange initiatives since 2015.
The network was formed in 2013 with support from the WISIONS of Sustainability initiative at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy, which contributed to HPNET's network operations, knowledge exchange, and strategic advocacy until 2022.

​HPNET's accelerator Social Enterprise for Energy, Ecological and Economic Development (SEEED) is managed by the HPNET Secretariat and developed in collaboration with various network members and partners.
